Meet Ashleigh Castledine, a passionate Accredited Exercise Physiologist working with clients in Perth’s southern suburbs, including O'Connor, Melville, and Coogee. Ashleigh has a deep love for helping people navigate their health challenges through exercise, especially those dealing with complex, chronic conditions. Here’s a chance to get to know the person behind the programs, and why she’s so dedicated to making a difference in her clients’ lives.
1. What made you want to become an Exercise Physiologist?
From a young age, Ashleigh was immersed in the world of exercise. Growing up around the gym with her dad, and participating in athletics and soccer, she developed a passion for movement early on. But it wasn’t just her love for fitness that led her down this path—it was the desire to help people with chronic health conditions live their best lives. For Ashleigh, being able to guide her clients through their rehabilitation and fitness journey is incredibly rewarding. "Helping people with complex chronic conditions through exercise makes my heart sing!" she says.
2. What has been the highlight of your career?
One of Ashleigh’s proudest moments was being invited to teach Exercise Physiology tutorials and lectures at Curtin University for students in the Neurological Rehabilitation unit. "It was definitely a pinch me moment!" she recalls. Sharing her knowledge with the next generation of exercise physiologists, while continuing to work hands-on with clients in the southern suburbs of Perth, has been a fulfilling part of her career.
3. What is your favourite form of exercise?
Ashleigh’s go-to workouts involve CrossFit and Olympic Lifting, where she finds both strength and endurance come into play. Boxing also holds a special place in her routine, as it provides a high-intensity, fun way to stay fit. As an Exercise Physiologist, she loves incorporating these types of exercises into her programs for clients in O'Connor, Melville, Coogee, and the surrounding areas, tailoring routines to fit each individual’s needs.
4. What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends?
When Ashleigh isn’t working with clients, you’ll find her enjoying some downtime at the beach, spending time with her family and fur baby, or indulging in good food. Living and working in the south of Perth allows her to stay close to the beautiful coastlines, which is a big bonus for this beach lover.
5. If you were a food dish, what would it be?
If Ashleigh were a food dish, it would definitely be pasta—any kind! Much like the versatility of pasta, Ashleigh brings adaptability and creativity to her exercise programs, ensuring that each client has a tailored approach that fits their lifestyle.
